Greenville Mayor Allen Thomas assumed a new title Monday at the Pitt County Courthouse as the newest member of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board after former Governor Beverly Perdue appointed him to the position before leaving office. Thomas says he's looking forward to serving in a statewide capacity and says he hopes to build relationships that can benefit Greenville as well.

"Anytime someone from your local community has the chance to go and reach out and serve on the state level you bring something back to the community. So I'm just glad to be in that role," said Mayor Thomas.

Mayor Thomas Says his appointment runs through 2015.
