Greenville police said a local man has been arrested for an armed robbery at a grocery store.

Investigators said Christian Dyer robbed the Landmark Grocery on E. 5th Street a little after 11 p.m. on Thursday night.

Police say Dyer took off running near N. Elm and Willow streets, and canine units were called out to track him.

Investigators said they found the cash Dyer stole plus the gun he used in the robbery along the path where he tried running from officers.

Police canine units found Dyer hiding out in the bed of a pick-up truck along N. Meade Street.

Dyer is now facing one charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police said Dyer's rap sheet includes prior arrests for robbery, conspiracy, drug offenses, child abuse, and fleeing to elude police among other charges.

Dyer is in jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
