A local man is accused of using his father's sickness to get prescription pills from a pharmacy to use for himself.
Pitt County Deputies arrested 27-year-old Michael Puryear Wednesday.
Deputies said Puryear illegally obtained 120 doses of Oxycodone from a pharmacy.
Puryear is accused of lying to the care facility where his father once stayed, telling them he would be picking up his dad's prescription every month to have it filled for him.
Deputies later found Puryear's father has died one week before he requested the medicine.
Puryear is charged with one count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery.
