Governor McCrory Visits New Bern Tuesday, Live Coverage On WITN

Just days after taking the oath of office Governor Pat McCrory will be in New Bern Tuesday for an event at the Tryon Palace.

Governor McCrory has an open house scheduled for the history museum at 6:00 p.m.

WITN will have live reports beginning at 5:00 p.m. and an interview with the new governor.

McCrory's stop in Eastern Carolina follows an open house earlier in the day in Greensboro.

McCrory took the oath of office Saturday in a private ceremony. A public gala for the Republican will be held this weekend.

Because of the celebration, some streets near Tryon Palace will be closed from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Barricades will be set up at the following locations:

• Pollock Street & Eden Street
• Pollock Street & Metcalf Street
• S. Front Street & Eden Street
• S. Front Street & Hancock Street

Homeowners along these streets who may be driving home this afternoon should use the Pollock Street/Metcalf Street intersection and prepare to show identification to law enforcement stationed there.
