Good Year For Salvation Army In Jacksonville

Despite the tough economy, generous people in Jacksonville took the time to give to charities this year.

The Salvation Army saw nearly $80,000 in donations. A lot of that money came from those red kettles over the holidays.

Joshua Rahn with Salvation Army says, "Our bell ringers actually did very well. We just about matched what we did last year. Checks and other mailed in donations were actually up from last year, not as many checks in the kettles, but we had a lot more cash donations."

That money will go towards the Salvation Army food pantry and several of their other programs that will go straight back to the community.
