Five Years After Expansion, City Hall Getting Million Dollar Fix

Five years after a major expansion and over overhaul was completed, Jacksonville City Hall is receiving a million dollar fix.

Scaffolding now covers part of the building as work has begun to correct problems with that expansion that was finished in 2006. Those problems include water leaks and subsequent mold issues for city hall.

Plans include replacing scores of windows in the building and much of the brick facade that encases the New Bridge street building.

City hall was expanded and renovated at a cost of $7.3 million and the city is still in litigation with that contractor and architect over problems with their work.

Cost for this fix is estimated at $1.03 million.
