Identity Of Dead Kayaker Released

Fire Officials in Swansboro say that they have found the body of a kayaker that disappeared Saturday evening.

Swansboro Fire Chief Bob Penrod says that the body of the missing person was found in the water of Queens Creek adjacent to Halls Creek and was not far from where the person is believed to have been last seen.

The U.S. Coast Guard identified the man as 26-year-old Graham Hoard.

Penrod says it’s too early in the investigation to determine what may have happened. We’re told the fire department began searching around 10:15 p.m. and had assistance from the Coast Guard.
