Family Robbed At Gunpoint During New Bern Home Invasion

Police said two children were among the family members forced to the ground during an early Monday morning home invasion in New Bern.

Police Sergeant Jason Williams told WITN at 1:27 a.m., officers were called to the Kensington Park Apartments for a home invasion on Arlington Circle.

Sgt. Williams said two men, one armed with a gun, burst through the front door with their faces covered in shirts. The duo demanded the family to the floor.

Officers said two children, between the ages of six and 12, were among the family members directed to the ground as the gunmen ransacked the apartment.

Investigators said the pair took off with a PS-3 gaming console in a silver car, heading toward Vanceboro.

Sgt. Williams said they have officers within a 50 mile radius keeping watch for the pair of robbers.

No one was hurt during the home invasion, according to police.

Officers said the first man was described as a black man with a lighter complexion, standing 5'4, and wearing a white t-shirt and jeans at the time of the robbery. The second man was described as a black man wearing a red t-shirt and only one white shoe.

Sgt. Williams said they do not have crimes like this reported often in this area of New Bern.

If you can help officers track down the robbers, you are asked to call New Bern Police at (252) 672-4100.
