FLU ALERT: Some Stores Have Trouble Keeping Surgical Masks On Shelves

Some stores say they're having a tough time keeping surgical masks on their shelves, as more and more people take precautions against getting the flu.

The Realo Discount Drugs on Trent Road in New Bern is now out of flu shots, but the pharmacist tells us 500 more doses of vaccine are on order.

In what's being called the worst flu season in a decade, 41 states are now reporting widespread illness.

The surgical masks are not only being purchased as a preventative measure against the flu, but also to protect those against allergies. The pharmacy is selling about 15 masks a day.

The pharmacist tells us they usually order masks every three months, but now are doing that every three weeks.
