Emerald Isle To Honor Coast Guardsman Who Lost His Life

A Coast Guardsman who lost his life serving his country is being honored in the east in a special way.

In early December Chief Petty Officer Terrell Horne lost his life during drug interdiction efforts in California.

The town of Emerald Isle is where Horne was stationed before relocating to California and the town is honoring him by renaming a portion of Station Street off Coast Guard Road after him.

The street name has not been changed yet but city officials say it will be changed soon.

The decision was unanimous at the Tuesday night town hall meeting to rename the street.
