Emerald Isle Asks Residents To Buy Bigger Recycling Bins

Residents in Emerald Isle are recycling so much, officials are asking them to buy new, bigger recycling bins.

Emerald Isle Public Works Director John Dunn says the small carry out bins just aren't cutting it anymore. The city is requiring homeowners to replace the small bins with 40 gallon roll out bins. Vacation rental owners are required to have a 90 gallon roll out bin for every three bedrooms in the rental house.

The new bigger bin requirement will begin March 18th.
