The Coast Guard says that it rescued 3 people Saturday from a boat that had run aground at the mouth of the Neuse River.
Officials say that it happened near Hobucken in Pamlico County around 9:15 p.m. Crewmembers aboard the boat reported that a 78-year-old had sustained injuries to his neck and back when the boat ran aground.
A Coast Guard crew from Station Hobucken responded to the scene and transferred the 3 people onto their boat.
An ambulance was waiting at Station Hobucken who took the man to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern.
