An autopsy has been requested for an elderly Duplin County man who died of a heart attack Thursday after being beaten and robbed last month.
Levy Harrell was attacked in his home on Highway 50 south of Kenansville on July 7th. The 80-year-old man was released from Vidant Medical Center several weeks later, but suffered a heart attack and was put back in the hospital this week.
The man died Thursday and now investigators are trying to determine if the heart attack was related to the attack.
Sheriff Blake Wallace says he is requesting an autopsy to see if any of those injuries received in the July 7th home invasion led to the heart attack.
So far no one has been arrested in Harrell's attack in which two men kicked in the man's front door, beat him up and took his wallet and cell phone.
