Eastern Carolina Air Travelers Faced Weather Delays

Airports are advising passengers to check with their airlines well in advance if they have flights today. For passengers flying out of Greenville, it's not the weather here they need to watch. It's the weather in Charlotte. Early morning flights have the highest likelihood of being affected; temperatures were below freezing in Charlotte overnight but were expected to reach into the 40s after 9 a.m.

Some travelers had trouble getting out of Greenville on time Thursday night.

At the Pitt-Greenville Airport, weather in Charlotte delayed an incoming flight by more than an hour and a half, while the same holds true for the outgoing flight. Some 35 passengers waited for that flight to Charlotte.

Airport Director Jerry Vickers says they have three remaining arrivals and two more departures tonight. He says at this point they're just following the weather and adapting accordingly.

At Coastal Carolina Regional Airport in New Bern, a noon flight coming from Charlotte was cancelled due to the weather, while a Delta flight from Atlanta that's supposed to arrive at 5:21 p.m. has been delayed. Another US Airways flight from Charlotte earlier this afternoon was delayed, but did arrive.

There have been no cancellations yet at Albert Ellis Airport in Jacksonville, while Airport Director Chris White says they have seen a few short delays today due to the weather.
