Power Restored After Early Morning Outage In Jacksonville

Progress Energy says power has been restored to all of their customers in Jacksonville following an early morning outage that knocked out power to nearly 1,800 customers.

Power was restored by 8:30 a.m. to the remaining 300 customers who lost power around 4 a.m.

Duke Energy says a malfunction caused one of their primary lines to fall early this morning.

Progress Energy is reporting a power outage in Jacksonville right now, affecting about 300 people. They say the power should be restored by 9 a.m.

The outage reportedly started just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, affecting nearly 1,500 customers at its peak.

Jacksonville police say part of Highway 17 was closed for a short time after a malfunction on a Progress Energy power line. Some areas had to be cleared near Highway 17 and Johnson Blvd. The roads were open before 8 a.m.
