ECU is set to purchase four homes near the Chancellor's House, all with the goal of expanding upon the chancellor's residence.
University officials say that the purchase of three homes on Summit Street and one on Jarvis Street will cost approximately $1.16 million. Funds for those purchases do not come from tax money, but rather private donations.
We're told that the ECU Real Estate Foundation will purchase the property and then the university will buy it from the foundation.
It's been a goal for the university to expand upon the Chancellor's House for a more campus-central location that can host large events. The Murphy Center, which is attached to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, has long filled that role.
