ECU police now say no weapon was used in a weekend robbery and assault of a student on campus.
Originally, the university said a woman student was robbed and assaulted with a deadly weapon near the Student Rec Center around 12:46 a.m. Sunday.
"There was no assault with a deadly weapon on campus," Lt. Chris Sutton said. "There was a robbery, and we continue to seek the suspects who were responsible."

The ECU Police Department has released a statement regarding the assault and robbery of a student on campus.
"The East Carolina University Police Department will be stepping up patrols in the area in which this incident took place," said police Chief Gerald Lewis, "We will be reviewing surveillance camera footage and partnering with the Greenville Police Department in our efforts to identify and arrest the perpetrators of this crime. We will not stand idly by and allow these types of incidents to occur on our campus.”

ECU Police report a female student assaulted on campus after midnight Saturday.
They say the student was walking through campus near the Student Rec Center around 12:46, when she was approached by two or three men wearing masks. The student reported that the suspects took her pocket book and then hit her on the head with the butt of a handgun.
Police say the suspects ran through campus toward Fifth Street area. After a campus wide search, the suspects were not found.
The student was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Police say there is no on-going threat on campus, but warn students not to walk alone at night and always remain aware of your surroundings.
