Keeping with the season, a Greenville man popped the question to his girlfriend…with a pumpkin containing the proposal.
To keep it a secret, Josh Jobson carved the pumpkin at work with “Erika will you marry me?” on the front.
The 27-year-old put the pumpkin on the couple’s front porch before Erika Giesking walked outside Sunday night as they left for a friend's house. Spotting the pumpkin, Giesking says she turned around and Jobson was behind her on one knee with a sapphire and diamond ring.
"I freaked out a little bit, started crying," Giesking told WITN. "I didn't know if it was real, and when I turned around he was kneeling down on one knee with the ring in the box, and it looked pretty real then...so of course I said yes."
Giesking, who works at the ECU athletic ticket office, and Jobson have been going together for nine years. He is an assistant superintendent at Wilson Country Club.
The bride-to-be says the wedding will likely be in Nashville, Tennessee about a year from now.
