Greenville Police Investigate Robbery & Assault Of ECU Student

Police are investigating the assault and robbery of an ECU student near campus early Saturday.

Greenville police say it happened outside a house party at 190 East 5th Street around 1:00 a.m.

Police say the man walked outside to make a phone call and was approached by three men.

The victim invited them to the party, but instead they hit the student several times and made off with his cell phone and a small amount of cash. The victim was not seriously hurt.

The robbers are described as black, all about 5'8" tall and wearing all black. Anyone with information about this robbery should call Greenville police at 252-329-4315.

Police say as students are now back at ECU, they should be reminded never to walk alone, be aware of their surroundings, and avoid distractions like cell phones.
