ECU unveiled its new "Undaunted" strategic plan for the college's athletic department this week and there has been a lot of talk about the logo change.
In the picture with this story the new logo is on the left, the old one is on the right.
As you can see, there are very subtle changes like a cleaner font, the crossbones are behind the skull, and "ECU" is now on the hat.
Athletics Director Jeff Compher says the new plan will give consistency to the school's brand that has changed looks several times in the recent past. He also said the update will help the school to become a national brand as they enter into the American Athletic Conference in July.
Students we spoke to around campus had very mixed feelings about the new logo. Some were excited about the change, others don't like it at all.
Compher says there has been no shortage of comments he's received from students and alumni via social media, both good and bad.
He says he welcomes the feedback, calling it a testament to ECU's fan base and how much they care about their school's branding.
