Christians around the world are marking Good Friday.
WITN spoke to a deacon at St. Paul's Catholic Church in New Bern about Good Friday's importance.
Deacon Michael Mahoney says it's the Catholic's salvation marking the death of Jesus. Mahoney describes the crucifixion as the greatest act of love God's son made on his people's behalf.
"We are celebrating the triduum. It's one celebration in three parts," says Mahoney. "Last night was the mass of the lord's supper. Today is the passion of the lord where we enact his suffering and death. Easter we celebrate his resurrection from the grave. Three parts, one great celebration."
