A Pitt County DSS supervisor has been fired after being arrested for drunk driving while she was on call.
Karma Warren was a social work supervisor for the Department of Social Services and was being paid to be on call when she was arrested the night of May 23rd by Washington police.
Police charged the 43-year-old Greenville woman with DWI and an open container violation.
After a public records request last week, DSS today provided documents to WITN revealing Warren was fired on Tuesday.
Her dismissal letter said the woman was fired for "gross personal misconduct". In the letter, interim DSS director Earl Marett said he was notified by Warren that night of the arrest, but she didn't tell him she was the on-call supervisor at the time.
DSS says on-call supervisors are not allowed to consume alcohol, according to county policies.
Warren made $51,416 a year working for DSS. She has an August 12th court date.
