Ferry service between Currituck and Knotts Island is being suspended for the next three days.
Scheduled maintenance begins on Friday on both ferry terminals and on the ferry itself, the Cape Point.
The state Department of Transportation says the work will include replacing wire rope on the ramps at both the ferry terminals as well as doing maintenance and repairs on the ferry.
The ferry is expected to be back in operation on Monday at 6 a.m.
