Commissioner Richardson: "This Is A Very Liberal Government & We Have To Put A Stop To It"

Commissioners in Beaufort County say they're fed up with the federal government and have called a special meeting to consider how to preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States and the State of North Carolina relating to the right to bear arms, the inability of the United States Congress to control spending and the issue of Immigration and other state and federal matters relating to the welfare of the people.

As President Obama proposed his gun control plan Wednesday, Beaufort County's government was planning how to fight back.

County commissioner Hood Richardson says, "At every move there's socialism to take our firearms. This is a very liberal government, and we have to put a stop to it."

Richardson and other commissioners have a meeting set up for this Friday, in an effort to keep people's weapons from being confiscated, and to start petitioning the state government for a constitutional convention.

Richardson says, "It's intended to be the first step to get the process moving and we're hoping that a lot of other county commissions will join with us in this effort."

Richardson says Wednesday's gun control moves are the wrong way to go. He says, "The direction should be that if more people had guns, there would be fewer people out trying to shoot people."

Friday's meeting is at the Beaufort County administrative office at 3:00 p.m. and is open to the public,
