Coast Guard Medevacs Two After 34-Foot Boat Runs Aground

The Coast Guard says that two people were medevaced Saturday from a boat that became grounded off the Intercoastal Waterway in Morehead City.

Officials say that a person on board contacted Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders around 9:30 a.m. saying their 34-foot boat ran aground near Spooner’s Creek with four people onboard. That person reported one man suffered an injury to the head and another, an injury to their back.

The Coast Guard, SeaTow and TowBoat U.S. responded to the scene. The two injured were removed by the Coast Guard and transferred to the Morehead City Fire Department crew at Spooner’s Creek Marina, who then took them to Carteret General Hospital.

A TowBoat U.S. crew salvaged the grounded boat.
