Car Chase With Baby In Tow

Authorities say two people are being held in jail on charges related to a 40-mile chase where the driver rammed four law enforcement vehicles.

A baby in the vehicle wasn't injured.

Catawba County Sheriff Roy Reid says the chase began Saturday night in Iredell County ended in Hickory. He says 25-year-old Pho Duc Nguyen of Newtown faces several charges, including attempted first-degree murder and child abuse.

He says 28-year-old Say Su Dung of Statesville was a passenger in the vehicle and is charged with child abuse and resisting a public officer.

Nguyen is being held in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $535,000 bond, and Dung is being held under a $2,500 bond.

Both are scheduled to appear in court April 22.
