Carteret County Bridge Hit By Boat

The Department of Transportation says the drawbridge on U.S. 70 between Morehead City and Beaufort has been reduced to a 10 foot lane in each direction due to damage it received during the recent weather.

The Highway Patrol says the drawbridge was hit by a boat Saturday night.

The D.O.T. says crews are assessing the damage to see what repairs are needed to get all lanes open. The drawbridge will continue to open every hour as needed.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling in this area.
