New record lows were set around sunrise Wednesday in Washington (18°), Kinston (16°), and New Bern (17°). Good news as far as the winds are concerned; they've left the area. Winds will remain nearly calm on Wednesday taking the dangerous wind chills out of the forecast.

Skies will stay sunny through the day Wednesday allowing the temp to near 40° by mid afternoon under sunny skies. Clouds will increase on Thursday with highs reaching close to 50°.

The warming trend will continue through Friday into the weekend. Highs around 58 are likely Friday. Saturday could top 70 degrees, but have some showers.
