NEW INFO: Bicyclist Struck Dies From Injuries

On Thursday morning, Jacksonville Police announced the man who was struck while riding his three-wheeled recumbent pedal cycle on Hargett Street had died.

Police said 58-year-old David Boyd was hit and killed by a car as he was pedaling along the street where he lived. Police said around 4:10PM on Wednesday, Boyd was riding near the 1700 block of Hargett Street in Jacksonville when a 2005 Toyota sport utility vehicle, driven by 89-year-old Troy Humphrey Jr., hit the bicyclist.

Boyd was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police said Humphrey failed to reduce speed in time to avoid colliding with Boyd. Humphrey was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision.

A bicyclist was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car Wednesday afternoon in Jacksonville.

It happened around 4:10 p.m. in the outside westbound lane in 1700 block of Hargett Street.

Hargett Street was closed to vehicular traffic between York Street and Cole Drive while first responders worked to clear the roadway.

The bicyclist was to Onslow Memorial Hospital. That person's name and condition haven't been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
