Beaufort County Sex Offender Back Behind Bars

A registered sex offender is back behind bars, charged with not telling authorities about his new address, which deputies say, is too close to a school.

Deputies arrested 58-year-old Bobby Boone of Benjamin Road in Chocowinity this week, eight weeks after they were first tipped off that Boone was not living where he was registered to be staying.

As of Friday morning, the Beaufort County jail says Boone is still behind bars under a $5,000 bond.

Sex offenders are required to tell law enforcement where they live, and must not live within 1,000 feet of educational property; both laws that authorities say Boone broke.

His current address is close to Chocowinity Primary School.
