According to Beaufort County officials, one person is dead after an early morning house fire.
Fire marshal Curtis Avery told WITN the emergency call came in at 3:12 a.m. Clarks Neck Volunteer Fire Department along with Old Ford Volunteer Department responded.
Avery said the house, located in the 2600 block of Cherry Run Rd. in Washington was completely engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived, and a woman was found deceased inside.
Avery said the only other person who was home was the woman's son, and he stepped outside for just a few minutes missing the fire.
Officials to not suspect any foul play. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
