Bear Grass Charter School in Martin County won $10,000 thanks to a photo contest held by Rack Room Shoes. Julie White submitted a photo of her daughter, Bear Grass Senior Madeline White, showing her in a Bear Grass cheerleading uniform on the mall of East Carolina University where she hopes to attend. We spoke with Madeline about how special the money is.
"It means a lot a whole lot just to know we get all of this money to toward technology and stuff -so it's a good thing." said Madeline White.
The money will be used for a computer lab. The Walmart foundation also awarded the school a grant through the local community contribution hunger outreach program for $5,000.
