UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed On Highway 264 Identified As PCC Student

The Highway Patrol says a man was killed after being struck by a car on Highway 264, early Sunday morning. Pitt Community College says that 23-year-old Ethan Jennings was an electronics engineering student at the school.

Troopers say around 12:16 a.m., Jennings was walking in the road on Highway 264 near Tupper Drive just outside of Greenville. They say a car traveling east on Highway 264, driven by 21-year-old Briana Ebron of Washington, struck Jennings. Troopers say it was around half a mile from the Highway 264 and Northeast Greenville Blvd. intersection.

Jennings was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers believe that Jennings may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. A toxicology test will confirm that. Troopers say that Ebron was not intoxicated.

Highway Patrol says no charges are expected.

Highway Patrol says Jennings has a permanent residence of Hertford, NC, which is in Perquimans County.
