The Highway Patrol says a woman was killed in a head-on collision last night on NC 111 in Chinquapin.
Troopers say at about 8:50 p.m., 17-year-old Alex Hayes was driving east on NC 111, when he crossed left of center amd 36-year-old Jolene Edens of Chinquapin head-on. She died from her injuries.
Hayes was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, where his condition and injuries are unknown at this time.
Troopers say there are charges pending against Hayes, and the wreck is still under investigation.
