A cold front moving in from the northwest is bringing rain showers and thunderstorms across eastern Carolina today. The front will move off the coast tonight allowing day time highs to approach the 90° mark ahead of the front. Skies will become mostly cloudy for the late afternoon with some breaks of sunshine.
Keep and eye on the western sky for darkening conditions. Some storms could produce very heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail, and frequent lightning.
After the front passes, temperatures will fall to near 70 overnight. Wednesday will feel a lot less humid, with highs still hanging in the mid to upper 80s, making for a comfortable late summer day. Expect mostly sunny skies from Wednesday through each day of the work week.
