Investigators Say Fire At Greenville Townhome Intentionally Set

Investigators now say an early morning fire that destroyed a Greenville townhome was intentionally set.

Crews used a ladder truck to fight flames at 4100 Brook Creek Lane, which is off Portertown Rd. in Greenville. Officials say the unit that caught fire was vacant as well as the other unit next door. The roof on one side of the unit has collapsed.

Crews were called there at 5:05 a.m. Five fire engines were called there from the City of Greenville and Eastern Pines Volunteer Fire Department.

Flames were shooting some 20 to 25 feet out of the burning duplex. No one was injured and the Greenville Police Department is now handling the criminal investigation.

The burned out half of the building has been condemned by city inspectors.
