American Red Cross disaster workers responded to an apartment fire in Goldsboro Saturday morning.
They say the multi-unit fire started just before 5:00 Saturday morning. Red Cross officials say the fire spread quickly while most of the residents were asleep, but thankfully all escaped unharmed. They credit smoke detector alarms for alerting residents of danger.
Red Cross workers met with the six families affected by the fire to emergency provide assistance with shelter, food an clothing. No word on what caused that fire. Officials are still investigating.
