Additional Repair Facility Planned For FRC East

It appears some additions are coming to one of the biggest employers in our area.

Congressman Walter Jones says that Fleet Readiness Center East at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point is taking steps toward establishing a vertical lift fan repair facility to service the F-35B.

Fleet Readiness Center Commander Rear Admiral Paul Sohl told Jones in a meeting that he penned a letter of endorsement for the facility to the head of the Joint Program Office for the F-35 program.

Jones, "Allowing this work to be done by the capable employees of FRC East would be the right decision for Eastern North Carolina, the service members who will depend on the F-35's readiness, and the taxpayers who are funding the aircraft's acquisition and maintenance."
