Actress Alfre Woodard Campaigns In The East For President Obama

Emmy award winning actress Alfre Woodard was in the east Friday campaigning for President Obama.

Woodard launched a canvass kickoff event in Greenville at the Obama for America field office. She says she started becoming involved in President Obama's campaign back in 2008 when he spoke in Iowa.

Woodard says as an American, she wants to be involved in the country's progress. Woodard says, "I didn't want to wake up on the 7th of November and not have done everything that I could do as a citizen, as an American. We don't live in a vacuum, we are all connected. And whatever happens to any of us, happens to all of us."

Woodard also made stops in Rocky Mount, Wilson, and Fayetteville.

Woodard is best known for her award-winning role in the HBO film Miss Evers' Boys. Her other television credits include Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, and The Practice, and has starred in films like Remember My Name, Primal Fear, and Cross Creek.
