Some Fleeing Florida Are Ending Up in Eastern Carolina

Thousands of Florida residents are fleeing that state and taking refuge elsewhere, and some are ending up here in Eastern Carolina.

Two sisters, who live in the projected paths of Hurricane Frances on the Florida Atlantic coast, packed up their families and a few belongings and made the journey to other family members’ homes in Greenville and Stokes. They are keeping a close eye on what's happening back home by watching their hometown news stations on the Internet.

Leigh Cradle says when they stopped at a rest area in South Carolina Wednesday on their way to North Carolina; they encountered lots of other motorists fleeing Florida as well. Cradle says her family's home is about eight miles from the ocean and they expect to leave Monday to go home and assess the damage.
