"Help Those Who Helped Us"

It was nearly five years ago that Hurricane Floyd devastated Eastern Carolina. And residents of Nash and Edgecombe County say they'll never forget what it was like.

Officials announced at a press conference in Rocky Mount Friday that the area will mark the five year anniversary of Hurricane Floyd by organizing a hurricane relief effort to help victims of Hurricane Charley in Florida. It's called "Help Those Who Helped Us," in honor of donations brought to Eastern Carolina during Floyd.

Organizers say their goal is to fill two large trucks with items ranging from canned goods, to toiletries, flashlights, and batteries.
