Federal prosecutors are investigating whether employees of the private security firm Blackwater USA illegally smuggled weapons into Iraq.
Officials said the weapons may have been sold on the black
market and ended up in the hands of a terrorist organization.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Raleigh, North Carolina, is
handling the investigation with help from Pentagon and State
Officials tell The Associated Press that there's enough evidence
to file charges. They spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.
Contractors with Blackwater, which is based in Moyock, were involved in a shooting Sunday in Baghdad.
