Keeping Kids Safe When Disaster Strikes

When disaster strikes, emergency workers are the ones to help those in need.

But sometimes, they need help too. A new effort by the Onslow Partnership for Children, and local child care providers, will let paramedics or other essential emergency crews safely place their children into secure shelters, if they have to work future storms.

The program is the first of its kind in America. Several national companies and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are watching how it works this hurricane season, to duplicate it in future disaster situations.
