An eleven-year-old boy in Forsyth County has been charged with carrying a loaded handgun to school.
The sheriff's office has not identified the boy, except to say he's a student at Wiley Middle School. He's been suspended.
The boy was taken to the principal's office after the parent of a classmate called to say her child saw the weapon. Major Brad Stanley says school officials were questioning the boy yesterday when the gun fell from his waistband down his pant leg and onto the floor.
The boy is being held in a juvenile detention center to await a court date. Investigators are still trying to figure out where he got the gun. They say his parents were shocked and are cooperating with authorities.
