Princeville Five Years After Hurricane Floyd

This month marks the five year anniversary that Hurricane Floyd hit Eastern Carolina.

The historic town of Princeville, the oldest town in the nation incorporated by freed slaves, was among the many towns swamped by Floyd's floodwaters. Since then, Princeville has spent millions of dollars to rebuild homes, tear down ruined structures, and build a new town hall.

Town Manager Sam Knight says the town is close to living up to its historical heritage and ready to show itself off.
