The West Pharmaceutical Company officially opened its new plant on Highway 70 in Kinston Thursday. About 300 people turned out for the morning ribbon cutting.
West Pharmaceutical designed the ceremony to only touch on the tragedy and accent their achievements. Company officials even admit they're amazed how quickly the new plant came together and put people back to work.
The plant is operating at about 55 percent efficiency now. Officials hope to be up to full speed by the end of this year. They also hope to hire 50 more employees, bringing their total to more than 200.
