New Federal Law Designed to Make Communities Safer

A new federal law now allows off duty law enforcement officers and retired law enforcement officers to carry a concealed weapon anywhere in the country.

It's called the Law Enforcement Officer's Safety Act. It allows officers with proper identification to carry a concealed weapon not only out of their jurisdiction but anywhere in the U.S., with the exception of federal buildings, schools, or any place else concealed weapons are not allowed.

For the last several years, law enforcement officers in North Carolina have been permitted to carry a concealed weapon anywhere in the state.
