There are many things a boat owner must do to prepare for a tropical storm or hurricane, like removing anything that might blow away, anchor their boat, or set sail for calmer waters.
Mark Johnson, who lives at Northwest Creek Marina in New Bern, and has survived more than ten hurricanes, says he and his neighbors owe a lot to the marina staff. He says they bring out a crew to help with preparation for tropical weather.
