For the second time, investigatory leave for a doctor at a state hospital has been extended.
Dr. Robert Owens has been on paid leave from Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro since late July.
The Department of Health and Human Services tells WITN today that Owens' leave has been extended until next Tuesday. It was supposed to end yesterday.
Dr. Owens is on leave as acting medical director at the psychiatric hospital after WITN started asking questions about his criminal conviction of taking indecent liberties with a nine year old girl, nearly 20 years ago.
