Officials Say Be Prepared Now

Places like Onslow County have seen hurricanes Bertha, Fran, Floyd and Ophelia. That's why things are busy at the emergency operations center in Jacksonville as the team is monitoring and tracking waves off our coast. Even though Carteret County was a bulls-eye this year for a hurricane, Mark Goodman director of the E.O.C. says hurricanes can be over three hundred miles wide, so its not just the coast that will be affected. Experts suggest having three to five days of non perishable food and water is in your emergency kit.
